Baby Rams Win Third Straight

EDEN - The Reidsville junior varsity football team won its third straight game to open the 2008 campaign with a 30-8 decision over Morehead Thursday night in Eden.

The Baby Rams led 22-0 at halftime and put it in cruise control in the second half to win for the 59th time in the jayvee programs last 61 games.

Rashawn McNeal led the Reidsville offense with 63 yards rushing and two touchdowns while also throwing a 47-yard TD pass to Ronje Irving. Christian Williams had 44 yards rushing in the first half.

Irving, McNeal, and Tony Roach had pass receptions. D.J. Jumper completed 2 of 3 passes in the second half for 30 yards.

Akeem Dennis had two interceptions for Reidsville, one of which halted a Morehead drive. The Baby Ram defense stopped another drive at the Reidsville six with a fumble recovery.

It took until the 2:52 mark of the first quarter for the Baby Rams to get on the board when McNeal scored from the Morehead six. Jumper's conversion run made it an 8-0 Reidsville lead.

The score remained that way until McNeal reached paydirt from the Panther 13 and a Williams conversion made it a 16-0 game.

McNeal took to the air for his next score as he hooked up with Irving on a 47-yard scoring play. The conversion failed leaving RHS with a 22-0 edge at halftime.

Williams closed out the scoring with a two-yard run with 9:27 left in the game. Jumper's conversion opened a 30-0 lead.

Morehead got on the board with 3:10 left in the game on a nine-yard TD pass from Jarod Huff to Xavier Gaynor.
