Rams Set To Host Rival Cummings Thursday

The prospects of Hurricane Hanna making its way through North Carolina this weekend has prompted school officials all over the state to adjust the high school football schedule.

One of those games affected will be Friday's scheduled game in Community Stadium between the Reidsville Rams and Cummings Cavaliers.

Officials at both schools agreed Tuesday to move the game up one day from Friday to Thursday and to move the junior varsity contest from Thursday to Wednesday.

Both games kickoff at 7 p.m.

Thursday's battle between the Rams and Cavaliers will be the 26th meeting with Cummings holding a slight 13-12 edge. This decade alone the two have met nine times with the Cavs owning a 5-4 edge. Reidsville won last year's game in Burlington 36-16 on its way to perfect 16-0 state championship season. Cummings and Reidsville have also taken turn knocking each other out of the playoffs (2005, 2006).

The Rams enter Thursday's game having disposed of rival Morehead by a 53-6 score last week. Cummings is 1-1 after a 27-14 loss to Southern Alamance in week one and a 33-6 victory over Carborro last week.

Reidsville is led offensively by quarterback Ray Ray Butchee, who completed 8 of 14 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns (Jarret Barnettt, Kenzel Doe, Lyshod Graves). The Rams also had a pair of scoring runs from Aaron Easton, kick returns for TDs by Easton and Graves, and a fumble return for another score by linebacker Mike Stacey.

The Cavaliers still love to put the ball in the air and when they do they rely on the arm of sophomore quarterback Bryson Leath. Senior Steven Crisp and junior Aaston Banks are his favorite targets. Senior Audi Smith is the running back.
