WENTWORTH – For the second straight week, Lavert Butchee provided the spark needed for the Reidsville offense. On Thursday night, Butchee was a perfect 6 for 6 with three touchdowns as the Baby Rams rolled past Rockingham County, 46-0 in junior varsity football action.
Reidsville, which is now 3-0 on the season, led 30-0 at the half – thanks to a pair of touchdown passes from Butchee.
Leading 8-0, Butchee connected with Denzell Blackwell on a 30-yard touchdown strike and later in the first half he found Kenzel Doe for a 37-yard touchdown connection.
The icing on the cake came with 5:27 left in the third quarter as Butchee and Doe connected once again, this time from 91 yards out and a 38-0 RHS lead.
Reidsville piled up 243 yards of offense before the half – 133 coming on the ground and 110 through the air.
With the loss, the Cubs dropped to 0-2 on the season.
Butchee finished the game 7 for 7, with three touchdowns and 207 yards.
Doe was the game’s leading receiver with four receptions for 164 yards and two TDs.
Reidsville also got scores from Stephen Williams – via a 3-yard touchdown run, Donovan Jumper on a one-yard plunge and Butchee called his own number from four-yards out for a score.
Rockingham County threatened just after halftime, but a bad snap on third and goal from the RHS 1, pushed the Cubs back to the 9-yard line and quarterback Cody Munson’s fourth-down attempt fell incomplete.
Reidsville scored on the very next play when Butchee hit Doe with the 91-yard strike.
The Baby Rams finished with 196 yards on the ground – led by Butchee with 53 yards on six carries, Stephen Williams with 50 yards on seven carries and Jumper with 46 yards on nine attempts. Through the air, Reidsville’s Butchee and Jumper combined for 254 yards.

On the ground, the Cubs were led by Keiwan McCain, who gained 70 yards on 11 attempts.
RCHS was outgained, 450-134.
Both JV teams are in action next Thursday night – Rockingham County traveling to McMichael and Reidsville traveling to Northeast Guilford.
