The Redskins and Steelers defeated the Bethany Cowboys and Wentworth Panthers in an exhibition doubleheader Tuesday night at Community Stadium involving 10-12 football teams from the Reidsville Parks & Recreation Department and the Rockingham County Youth Football League.
The Redskins broke open a tight game with a 32-point outburst in the third quarter to beat Bethany 50-28 while the Steelers held off a Wentworth comeback to post a 15-8 win.

The Redskins led just 12-6 at halftime before opening the lead in the third quarter.
Rhamel Irving scored on a 57-yard run to give the Redskins the early lead and then added a one-yard run in the second quarter. Chris Wilburn had a five-yard run in the second period for the Cowboys.
Irving then scored on runs of 46 and 25 yards and returned an interception 55 yards for another score in the third quarter. P.J. Barham and Justin Smith also had TD runs in the third quarter while Irving had a PAT. Barham passed to Denzel Myers for another conversion.
Neal Almstead scored on a 70-yard kick return for Bethany.
The Cowboys came back with a four-yard run by Wilburn and a 20-yard run by Almstead in the fourth quarter and got a pair of two-point kicks from John Tilley.
Irving hooked up with Smith on a 50-yard TD pass for the game’s final score.
Patrick Price recovered a fumble for the Redskins and Irving had an interception.
Almstead had a pick for the Cowboys.

The Steelers built a 15-0 lead and held on for the win.
Quentin Anglero had a four-run runs in the first quarter and Dominique Evans passed to Jarray Davis for the conversion.
Tyree Smith added a one-yard run in the second quarter and the Steeler defense recorded a safety in the third quarter.
Cody Tuttle broke free on a 50-yard run for the Wentworth TD, which was exclamated by a two-point PAT kick from Tanner Brooks.
Smith and Devonte Siddle had fumble recoveries for the Steelers and Tuttle had an interception for the Panthers.
